1 wooden dreidel with metal letters (may come in brass or alpaca silver)
1 fabric coin sack
8 embroidered Hanukkah gelt coins
The dreidel is decorated with the Hebrew letters ‘Nun’ for ‘ness’ (miracle), ‘Gimel’ for ‘gadol’ (large/great), ‘Hei’ for ‘haya’ (was/happened), ‘Pey’ for ‘poh’ (here). Because the Hanukkah miracle happened in Israel, Israeli dreidels have the letters for ‘a great miracle happened here‘ while dreidels anywhere else in the world usually have the letter ‘Shin’ for ‘sham’ (there) – ‘a great miracle happened there‘.
